Parni Valjak this Sunday on Stradun as part of the rich program of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival!

The 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival in Dubrovnik, which began on November 30th, has provided Dubrovnik residents and guests with more content than ever before at numerous locations, both those they have become accustomed to in previous years and numerous new magical spots that have left visitors young and old breathless. Cheerful songs and joyful noises have been heard in every corner of the City over the past few days, and it will be no different this weekend and in the new week ahead!

 

Saturday, December 14th, continues with educational tourist-themed guided tours of the City, in Croatian and English, organized by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. Free tours will depart on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (English) and 12:30 p.m. (Croatian) in front of the TIC at Pile. From 10a.m., workshops from the Natural History Christmas Workshops cycle will continue under the guidance of employees of the Natural History Museum of Dubrovnik, and from 11a.m., the "Neighborhood Fair" will be held in Lazareti (10th ship) organized by the Lazareti Art Workshop.

 

Events will also begin in Lapad Bay at 11a.m. as part of the Colorful Winter in the Bay. A workshop by the Modeling Society "Argosy" and the Modeling Institute "Nave Dumins" entitled "Ship Modeling" will be held at 11a.m. (Esperanza Café), and at 12p.m., "Kolenda Uvala" will be sung by the Dubrovnik Children's Choir (stage by the fountain). "Planetarium, Robot Dog and Bicycle for Plastic Recycling" organized by FabLab, IPOI & FabLabHR.net will be at 12:30p.m. (stage by the fountain).

 

Ivana Jelača's concert walk titled "Play Dubrovnik" will start at 12 p.m. from the Rector's Palace towards Saloča od zrcala, and the program is in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Libraries and Dubrovnik Museums with the support of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. The TIP TOP TUP program opens with the "Retro Fair" at 2 p.m. in the Tup hall kotakti. At the North Pole Station at 2 p.m., there will be a making of Christmas decorations from unshaped material. At the Holy Family Parish, the program continues in Waiting for Christmas in Mokošica with a workshop on making Christmas cards called "Little Designers" led by the Audiovisual Center Durovnik. The "Sveti Juraj" Cultural and Artistic Association Osojnik will host the "Dance and Music Collage" at 5 p.m., and at 5:30 p.m., the "Kolarin" theater troupe will play the play for children "Hedgehog's House".

 

At 4 p.m., actors in the puppet show "Cvilidreta" will appear on the Big Stage of the Marin Držić Theatre, and this play will also be performed later, from 6p.m. at the same location! The third Advent candle in front of the Cathedral and the Rector's Palace at 7p.m. will be lit by the President of the City Council of the City of Dubrovnik, Marko Potrebica.

 

On Sunday, December 15th, the "Retro Fair" continues in the Tup Hall from 10a.m. to 2p.m., organized by the Dubrovnik 33/45 Association. The North Pole Station, organized by Kinematograf Dubrovnik, is organizing board games from 2p.m. A music workshop for children and youth entitled "Carol and Christmas Song Workshop" will be held at the Bunić-Kaboga summer residence at 5p.m. The Dance and Recreation Studio "Dubrovnik" and the Majorettes of the City of Dubrovnik will perform the dance production "Magic Advent" at 7p.m. at the Marin Držić Theatre. The choirs of the Dubrovnik Diocese will hold an "Advent Concert" at 8 p.m. in the Church of the Little Brothers. At 9 p.m., the big stage on Stradun is ready for a pop-rock spectacle with one of the most famous Croatian bands, Parni Valjak, while Minea will entertain all visitors with a concert in Lapad Bay.

 

On Monday, December 16th, the program will continue in Lazareti (8th aisle), where Deša Dubrovnik will organize a workshop on making carob syrup and cookies at 11 a.m. The Dubrovnik libraries in the Lapad branch will have a storytime and a Christmas decoration workshop with letter writing called "The Joy of Christmas" at 6 p.m., while on the Main Stage of the Marin Držić Theater at 7 p.m., the Step'n Jazz Dubrovnik dance studio will perform a dance production. At the Bunić-Kaboga summer house at 8p.m., Dubrovnik Heritage is organizing a concert from the “Bach&Sorgo&Us” cycle, featuring the Sorgo Ensemble and soloist Aljoša Lečić.

 

Tuesday, December 17th will be lively again in Lazareti (8th nave), where Deša Dubrovnik will continue with her workshops at 11a.m., this time a workshop on making sponge cake. The guest dance performance “Jednočinka” will be performed at the Marin Držić Theater at 8p.m. on the Bursa Stage. As part of Advent on Vojnović, Ivica Ićo Sikirić will perform on the stage in front of the student dormitory at 8p.m.

 

Wednesday, December 18th continues under the organization of Deša Dubrovnik, where a workshop on making marmalade and maginja tart will be held in Lazareti (8th nave) at 11a.m., while a workshop on making eco-Christmas wreaths will be held at 3:30p.m. Ivana Jelača's concert walk entitled "Play Dubrovnik" will start at 5 p.m. from the Rector's Palace towards Saloča od zrcala, and the program is in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Libraries and Dubrovnik Museums with the support of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. At the Marin Držić Theater at 8 p.m., a guest dance performance by Saša Božić and Petra Hrašćanec entitled "Love Will Tear Us Apart" will be performed.

 

Thursday, December 19th, organized by Deša Dubrovnik at 11a.m., there will be a Korčula klašun and amaretto workshop in Lazareti (8th nave). The Dubrovnik Art Gallery will open the exhibition “Artists about Artists - Visual Panopticon” at 6p.m. At 7p.m., a play for children directed by Paolo Tišljarić “The Nutcracker” will be performed on the Main Stage of the Marin Držić Theatre. The Linđo Folklore Ensemble will hold a “Christmas Concert” with klapa songs in the Church of the Little Brothers at 8p.m.

 

Friday, December 20th, the North Pole Station will start at 2pm with the workshop “Scientific Christmas with Tinker Labs”. From 4p.m., the “Christmas Market” will open in Lazareti (5th nave), a humanitarian Christmas fair organized by Dubrovnik Heritage. The Dubrovnik libraries in the City branch will have a workshop for the youngest from 5p.m. where they can make Christmas cards. The Ethnographic Museum in the Rupe Granary opens the exhibition "Saint Blaise and UNESCO" at 6 p.m., which will remain open until March 31st, 2025. At the Marin Držić Theater at 7 p.m., a play for children directed by Paolo Tišljarić entitled "The Nutcracker" will be performed.

 

The great "Dubrovnik Christmas Concert" will be held at 8 p.m. at the Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel, and will feature the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Hut, and the 4 Tenors, Marija Vidović (soprano), Renata Sabljak (soprano) and the Blasius Choir. At the same time, Advent on Vojnović begins with a concert by Halid Bešlić in front of the Student Dormitory at 8 p.m.

 

In order to make it as easy as possible for as many people as possible to attend all the programs of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival, the city administration has provided all citizens and guests with free transportation on Libertas buses on city lines in the afternoon and at night. Also, the price of the DU Pass, a joint ticket to the most important Dubrovnik attractions, has been reduced from 35 to just 15 euros, and the price of the ticket to the city walls has also been reduced.

 

The City of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, in cooperation with cultural institutions and public companies, are preparing a wide range of events for citizens and visitors of all ages. This year's 11th Dubrovnik Winter Festival awaits you in all its glory!
